Me –– Bobby AlvarezSince you already know my name, I suppose I'll just delve into some straight facts. I am a junior of the class of 2014 at the University of Notre Dame and I am a student in the Program of Liberal Studies (PLS), the Great Books program at the university. I also have minors in Theology and Peace Studies, with particular interest in development. This past summer, I participated in the International Summer Service Learning Program, through which I spent 10 weeks serving at La Finca del Niño (The Farm of the Child). The Finca is an orphanage in rural Honduras and while I was there I played the role of substitute teacher. My experiences there with the kids forced me to ask some questions on development that eventually gave rise to this website. I hope that my experiences this summer and my reflections upon it here inspire some fruitful discussion on the whole project of development. (1)

(1) Throughout this website you will find these little sidebar notes, so I want to explain what these are for. These are a product of my head running wild. Due to the natural limits of the size and scope of this project, there are many strands of thought that I could not pursue. These side notes give me a space to voice these thoughts without delving into them too deeply or formally as research.
